In 2009, Burkina Faso’s national land domain was subdivided into the State land domain, the local authority land domain, and the private land domain. Some ten years after this reform, this article aims to describe and evaluate the capacity of urban development actors to reshape public land policies in the capital of Burkina Faso (Ouagadougou). Based on empirical data, the article seeks to examine land pressure, calling into question the various development operations carried out by public authorities as well as the trend towards loss of public authority control over peri-urban land in Ouagadougou.
