This article revisits the mainstream interpretation of sexual violence in eastern Congo as a "weapon of war." After describing the phenomenon of sexual violence and the assistance offered to the victims of sexual violence in Goma, it goes on to question the effects of this interpretation on the quality and efficiency of the support provided to these victims.
