UK involvement in Sierra Leone: From foreign agenda to country ownership

British involvement in Sierra Leone is overarching and without precedent. It has been made possible by the nature of the partnership between the British and the Sierra-Leone governments. Gradually turning into an interdependence, this commitment could eventually become harmful to British interests, if the UK's determination to implement reform is not met by a genuine appropriation of the changes by the Sierra Leoneans.
