The leap forward on Africa by New Labour: Principles, promises, and results

From 1997 on, the New Labour government has launched a profoundly revised the UK's policy on Africa. Under the new policy, which includes an "ethical" view of international relations, the African continent has become the main beneficiary of a rethought and reinvigorated British policy on ODA. Sometimes strikingly efficient, as in Sierra Leone in 2000-2001, this policy is now undergoing the test of time.
