The Burkin Naong Saya social safety net project was born in 2014 out of the Burkinabe government’s desire to support poor and vulnerable households. It aims to support the financial empowerment of beneficiary households by reducing the impact of poverty on household members through improved consumption and access to basic social services. The project is being implemented in 9 regions, including the central region in the city of Ouagadougou. The aim of this article is to highlight Burkin Naong Saya’s contribution to reducing household poverty. Data collection consisted of a documentary analysis and semi-structured interviews with state actors and project beneficiaries. The results show that cash transfers have a positive impact on savings and on the women who receive the resources, improving their access to basic social services and their dignity. However, the impact on other household members was not significant.
