Madagascar: Circumvented Development

Madagascar: Anatomy of a Crisis State

English

The 2008-2013 crisis in Madagascar was not an isolated or accidental incident in the many ills that have affected the country since the nineteenth century. For the island to return to economic growth and unfettered development, it must overcome and conquer its main problems: poor governance, unscrupulous dealings, and wealth concentration. If these issues are not put on the table and resolved, there is a great risk that, in a few years, the end of one crisis will lead to another regressive implosion or the nth step backward.
