The ports on the Mediterranean’s southern shore are strongly impacted by the region’s uneven pattern of development. This paper highlights the revival of the Mediterranean region, located at the crossroads of the maritime world, as well as the major challenges and opportunities faced by its ports. In addition to the modernization of terminals, port development projects now need to be more closely coordinated with land use planning.
