This text retraces how the media followed the 2005 food crisis, highlighting the major themes that gradually emerged. It attempts to understand the dynamic and extent of the media's keen interest in the issue. Which media showed interest in the food crisis and when did that interest start? By what channels did they intervene and what effects did they produce? The answers to these questions are mainly based on the contents of the press, mostly Nigerian and French, from October 2004 to September 2005. Over the months, there was a shift from indifference to a generalized aid campaign in support of Niger, and we see the extraordinary reactions to this campaign by States, international organizations, NGOs, and well-known public figures.
