Mossi traditional weaving in Burkina Faso: A success story

Dramatic changes have occurred in Mossi traditional weaving and dan fani cloth over the past 50 years, due to the complementary involvement of religious missions, political leaders, and fashion designers. Originally a male activity, weaving has become an occupation for women. Dan fani cloth is still worn in the traditional way, but also features in urban fashion. This exploration of local skills is a successful example of development.
