"Traditionally considered peripheral to US foreign policy, Africa has recently turned into a central focus for the White House. In the so-called ""New World Order"", a geopolitical context marked by an overwhelming US hegemony, how can this shift be seen? This paper shows that Africa has now been included in America's overall strategy, both due to its natural resources (and oil in particular) and due to its strategic importance in the ""War on Terror""."
