Intercommunity conflicts in Cameroon: A neo-causal rationalization through the prism of intra- and extra-territorial interference
Special report
By Jean Émile Mba, Léopold Ngueuta NouffeussieEnglish
Dealing with intercommunity conflicts can no longer be reduced to land, political, and agro-pastoral disputes alone. Beyond these traditional causes, it is now necessary to understand the role played by armed forces and groups, as well as other forms of cross-border allegiances, in inciting and exploiting preexisting fault lines in their favor. This perspective is still marginal in Cameroon. This research therefore aims to explore this perspective, to show how armed conflicts are superimposed on intercommunity rivalries as a new dimension of conflictuality.
