The metastases of the Rwandan genocide are still being felt in the Great Lakes region. The human consequences were terrible in Rwanda, but also in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, where they are and more lasting. The economic consequences too. Based on an economy of plunder, this situation is at the root of the resentments between the peoples of the Great Lakes. The control of minerals and output circuits was a way for Rwanda to continue the war in another form and to create a basis for capital accumulation for a landlocked country with modest resources. The conditions for true peace in the Africa of the Great Lakes are far from being met.
